Report from the Board

On behalf of the Christian Science Nurse Service of NH Board we welcome you to our 2024 Annual Meeting. We look forward to sharing reports from the Board, Treasurer, our Primary Christian Science Nurse and a truly inspirational talk given by Chrissie Sydness Heining, CS, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt 5:16

As Board Chair I would like to share the following report with you. This year has been filled with abundant blessings. One of those blessing was the opportunity to work together with Tallwood House, NH Home for Christian Scientists in Concord. Our collaboration brought growth and insight into how to move forward fulfilling the Service’s mission to provide, “Helpful, uplifting assistance… that promotes healing”. Over the years it has come to the Board’s attention that the Primary CS nurse for the Service can at times spend quite a bit of time tending to administrative work. When the CS nurse’s schedule is busy with cases, where her skilled CS nursing care is needed, that administrative work can become burdensome. There has been the thought of creating an administrative position to support the CS nurse and the Board for many years.

Over the past year, with much prayerful work, we were led to consider creating an administrative position that could be shared with Tallwood House. Both Boards met monthly and a job description for a Business Administrator was created and posted. Through the interviewing process and much prayer, it became clear that the shared administrative position would not meet the needs of both of the organizations. Therefore, the Service moved forward to hire a full-time Business Administrator, to fulfill the administrative duties of the CS nurse(s), the Board and the Bookkeeper. With Paula’s administrative background and CS nursing experience it made sense for us to offer the position to Paula. We knew that we would see God’s supply in action and we are excited to share that Paula has accepted the offer. Michelle, our current part-time CS nurse will transition into the full-time Primary CS nurse over the next several months. We are very grateful for the time that we spent working with Tallwood, learning more about how they provide a home and CS nursing care for those relying on CS for healing in their residential setting.

With the addition of a full-time Business Administrator, we look forward to sharing the availability of CS nursing care through the Service. This will be done through Church visits and a more informative website. We want those relying on Christian Science for their nursing care in NH and bordering states to be aware, that the Service is there to help them meet their needs.

Our Board has been hard at work supporting the Service through prayerful support for our CS nurses, website updates and design, and updating and creating policy documents. It is such a blessing to support this Christly work. As most of you are aware the CSNSNH is a 501c3, a non-profit organization which according to NH law must always have 5 Board members. To continue to provide CS nursing care to those relying on CS through the Service we will need additional Board members. We have one Board member, Alice Shepard who has conscientiously served for 11 years and Kathy Wallace has graciously served for 9 years. It is through God’s provision that they have continued to support the mission of the Service. They are both tremendously devoted to the Service, but they both believe that the time has come for them to make way for new Board members. Alice will leave the Board at the end of the month and Kathy will leave in the first few months of 2025. We are so grateful that someone has been led to serve on the Board beginning in March. As you can see, we will need at least 1 more Board member. We know God does meet our every need and we are praying to see that demonstrated through additional Board members.

Our previous theme, from Hymn 12, "In love and healing ministry, show forth the Truth that makes men free," has been and will continue to be reflected in the compassionate and skilled care that our CS nurses, Paula and Michelle provide.. Our theme for this upcoming year from Philippians 4:19, “God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. – “will be surely be demonstrated through prayer regarding CS nursing coverage, additional Board members, financial demands and the healing of those relying on CS nursing care, our community and the world.

Thank you for attending this Annual Meeting of the Christian Science Nurse Service of NH and for your continued financial needs and prayerful support of the Service and its mission.

Lovingly submitted,
Kelly Marshall, Board Chair
